Week 16

  • Fine hair called lanugo covers your baby, who now measures about 4.3 to 4.6 inches (10.8 to 11.6cm) from crown to rump and weighs about 2.8 ounces (80g).

  • Fingernails are well formed and the arms and legs may be seen moving on an ultrasound. Your baby already has his own unique fingerprint pattern!

  • Your baby can hold his head erect and he can also make faces with his slightly developed facial muscles. Your baby may practice squinting, frowning and opening and closing his mouth.

  • Your baby's bones have enough calcium deposits to show on an X-ray. If your baby is female, her ovaries will be in place in her pelvis and more than five million ova (some of which may be fertilized to become your own grandchildren in another generation!) have formed.

Weight Gain Breakdown: (for what I should gain - I'm only up 3 pounds so far.)

Heartburn???

Last night we went to Chub's fundraising dinner at SDH. After dinner, my chest started hurting - just below my sternum (as it had been doing off and on all day). I thought I had maybe overdone my morning workouts this week. The only thing that seemed to relieve the pain/pressure was to push on the area or lay back semi-reclined. Later I thought that perhaps this was heartburn instead of soreness. Any ideas???

definitely heartburn! I totally thought I was having a heart attack once...nope...just heartburn! (luckily I didn't go to the ER because my friend told me the same thing happened to her.) My saving grace? ZANTAC!!! Couldn't live without it. And if you get a Rx from your dr. it's only $4 at walmart! YAY, ZANTAC!!! It saved my life! (and Porter had a TON of hair...so who knows if that old wives' tale is true?)
